Pedestrian killed by car in East Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA – A woman was killed after being struck by a car in East Bakersfield on Tuesday morning, local news reports. 

The victim was attempting to cross Kentucky Street in the 1400 block when she was hit by a vehicle just before 6 a.m. She died at the scene.

She was not in a marked crosswalk at the time. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.

Investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
