Suspected DUI crash leaves one dead in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA – One person was killed in a crash in Bakersfield on Wednesday night that police suspect was caused by a drunk driver, KGET reports.

The accident occurred around 10:50 p.m. on Wednesday on the 4400 block of White Lane.

A 29-year-old woman was driving an SUV when she attempted to make a left turn and struck a two-door coupe. The impact of the crash sent the coupe off the road and caused a gas leak.

The driver of the coupe was killed at the scene. The driver of the SUV was hospitalized with minor injuries then arrested and charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony driving under the influence resulting in death and DUI.
