Narrative
ALPINE CO., CA – One man died, and another sustained serious injuries in a head-on crash involving two motorcycles on the highway in western Alpine County.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on CA-88 near Red Lake, which is about 26 miles south of South Lake Tahoe.
Police say that a westbound 2007 Harley Davidson V-Rod entered the eastbound side of the highway and collided head on with an eastbound 2007 BMW K1200 GT.
The force of the collision threw both motorcyclists from their bikes.
The driver of the Harley, identified as Marcus Canizales, died at the scene of the accident.
Medics transported the other driver, identified as Christopher Jost, to the hospital with serious injuries.
