Narrative

LONG BEACH, A driver of a 2017 Jeep Cherokee made a left turn in front of a 2010 Nissan 350Z, resulting in the vehicles colliding and one man getting hit, who then died. This collision happened before 6 p.m. Monday on the Pacific Coast Highway. When the cars crashed, the Nissan driver, a 20-year-old man, also struck a pole. One of the automobiles was also split in half. Police confirmed that the 20-year-old was speeding when he drove east on the highway prior to the crash. They also certified that impairment did not play a role in this crash. The man who succumbed to fatal wounds was waiting for a bus before getting struck. He was identified as Carlos Ceron, 50, of Long Beach. Officials did not specify if the Jeep driver was harmed, only stating they “refused medical attention” while the Nissan driver was rushed to a hospital. His condition is unknown at this time. In addition, it is unclear which vehicle struck Ceron. First responders said one of the drivers had reportedly tried to flee the scene, although there was no official word on whether they were apprehended.
