Narrative

PALM DESERT, CA – A 51-year-old woman operating a Nissan Sentra lost her life after she ran a red light and collided with a Dodge van east of the Civic Center Park Wednesday. This collision happened at the Portola Avenue and Fred Waring Drive junction. First responders took the Nissan Sentra motorist to a hospital, where she later succumbed to fatal wounds. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified her as Monica Villareal, a Coachella resident.  Villareal was not suspected of impairment when she declined to stop at a red light. The other motorist was unharmed. Authorities started an investigation and have not released additional information.
