Man killed next to Encinitas road

ENCINITAS, CA – A man was killed on Sunday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in Encinitas, according to ABC 10 News. 

The accident occurred around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Piraeus Street and Normandy Road. The victim was crossing the street in an attempt to pick a flower on the side of the road when he was struck by a northbound vehicle.

He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Scripps La Jolla Hospital, where he later passed away.

The driver remained uninjured. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash.
