Pedestrian killed in downtown Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CA – A woman was killed in Bakersfield on Tuesday morning after she was struck by a vehicle near downtown, KGET reports. 

The accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on the 1600 block of Truxtun Avenue. The victim was walking in the crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later passed away.

The driver remained on the scene and cooporated with investigators. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
