Vehicle explodes after hit-and-run crash in Elk Grove

ELK GROVE, CA – A vehicle caught fire and exploded after an accident on Highway 99 in Elk Grove on Sunday, CBS Sacramento reports. 

The crash occurred around 5 p.m. A silver Hyundai was driving a high speeds when it struck a mini-van. The mini-van then lost control and hit the center divider.

After the crash, the mini-van’s driver was able to get themselves out of the vehicle. The van then caught fire and exploded.

The Hyundai flipped over following the impact of the crash. The driver got our of the car and fled on foot.

No injuries have been reported. Police are searching for the driver of the Hyundai.
